Why is Sound Achievement the right choice
for you and your family?
Individualized Expert Care
-
Dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP): Your child will work with me throughout their journey. From assessments to intervention, you’ll have consistent support every step of the way.
-
Extensive Experience: With 20 years of experience in speech therapy and one of only a few dozen Ph.D.-qualified SLPs specializing in phonological processing disorders, my expertise ensures a deep understanding of your child’s needs. I design tailored treatment plans that target specific challenges while leveraging your child’s strengths.
-
Partnership with Families: Treatment is a collaborative process involving you, your child, and me. I maintain a small caseload to ensure individualized attention, answer your questions, and provide detailed feedback.
Innovative Virtual Learning
-
Telepractice Expertise: With over five years of telepractice experience, I create engaging, multi-sensory virtual sessions using tools like greenscreens, virtual whiteboards, interactive websites, and more. This approach keeps your child focused and excited to learn.
-
Flexible and Convenient: Virtual sessions eliminate travel, allowing your child to learn from the comfort of home. Shorter, frequent sessions are available, promoting effective practice without fatigue. Parents can easily observe sessions and learn techniques to support their child’s progress between appointments.
-
Promotes Generalization: Learning at home encourages your child to apply new skills in their everyday environment, leading to better generalization compared to clinic-based therapy.
-
Brain and Body Breaks: Recognizing that focus is key to learning, we incorporate movement and sensory breaks tailored to your child’s needs. Movement activities like a quick snack, jumping jacks, or sensory fidgets help your child’s brain organize input, preparing them to focus on new skills.
Comprehensive Speech, Language, and Literacy Services
-
Full Evaluations: Communication difficulties often overlap. Many children with speech issues also have undiagnosed developmental language disorders (DLD) or dyslexia. A full evaluation identifies your child’s strengths and challenges, allowing us to address the root causes of their difficulties.
-
School Support: It is my goal to work cooperatively with all the service providers of a client. While Sound Achievement is a private clinic, I can provide clients with additional support when working with their school-based services, such as those on an individualized education plan (IEP) or a 504 plan. I can provide an independent educational evaluation that families can bring to an IEP meeting for the IEP team to consider services. I can also attend IEP meetings to provide additional support for families.
-
Nationwide Availability: I offer speech, language, and literacy therapy across the U.S. I am licensed to provide speech and language services in six states (Oregon, California, Washington, Idaho, Minnesota, and Maine) and am certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. As literacy intervention does not currently require licensing at the state or national level, I provide literacy services nationwide.
-
Multiple Insurance Options: Besides providing private-pay sessions, I work with several insurance providers, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, TriCare, and Oregon Medicaid.
